Bunny Salt and Pepper Shakers

I came across these cute bunny salt and pepper shakers at wrapables.com. I think since it’s post-Easter, they’re on sale. So it’s the perfect time for bunny lovers to find rabbit-themed gifts.  They also have napkins, towels and candles.

Happy Easter!

New rabbit health articles

Chronic myxomatosis in rabbitWe’ve just added two new articles to My House Rabbit concerning rabbit diseases. They were written by two practicing vets from the UK who also run an online pet meds site called Vetstoria.co.uk. The articles include both photos and videos to highlight symptoms of the diseases and demonstrate treatment procedures.

While some of the footage is a little unpleasant to watch, it is important to be aware of these diseases so you can ensure your own bunny’s clean bill of health.

You can read the articles here:

Vegan Chocolate Easter Bunnies

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Well, I don’t actually like chocolate, so I can’t confirm if dairy-free, egg-free chocolate Easter bunnies taste similar to non-vegan chocolate bunnies, but I did find a comprehensive list of them for all the vegans out there.

Go Dairy Free recently published an article listing 8 chocolatiers selling dairy-free, egg-free chocolate bunnies: http://www.godairyfree.org/200803062325/News/Nutrition-Headlines/Now-Where-am-I-Going-to-Find-a-Dairy-Free-Chocolate-Bunny.html

They have since published an addendum to the list: http://www.godairyfree.org/200803072327/News/Nutrition-Headlines/Introducing-New-Members-to-the-Dairy-Free-Chocolate-Bunny-Family.html

White-tailed Jack Rabbit Still Calls Yellowstone Home

Yellowstone Jack Rabbit

According to senior scientist with the Wildlife Conservation Society Joel Berger, who’d made claims earlier in the year that the white-tailed jack rabbit had disappeared from Yellowstone, “I’ve got egg on the face, absolutely.”

After Berger’s study was published in the science journal Oryx, six biologists and naturalists contacted Berger with photographic evidence that his claims were false.

That said, Berger still believes the jack rabbit to be in decline.

Nabaztag Rabbits

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Nabaztag RabbitI actually saw an ad for one of these WiFi  Nabaztag Rabbits on this site and had no idea what they were. After some investigation, I found out they’ve actually been around for a few years. Basically their purpose is to connect to your wireless network, and read you the news out loud, notify you when you have new emails, read messages you receive, tell you the weather, obey spoken commands, dance, and play songs. They are essentially little Internet beacons - and they work even when the computer is off and are able to speak 16 different languages.

It’s kind of neat, but I don’t know if I want to add “Talking to a technological object” to the list of things I do everyday. I already spend the majority of my day talking to real, live rabbits. That said, it might be useful if you were trying to learn a new language or something. You could just make it talk to you in that language all day.
